THE GOOD SHEPHERD FAMILY
The Good Shepherd Family consists of approximately 300 people of all ages. We are predominantly from Wood County, but have many members from Belpre and the Marietta area. We also have several members from Pleasants County. Our congregation includes people from Parkersburg, Vienna, Williamstown, and smaller communities.
We are of all ages. We have an active nursery, church school for young children, and teen programs. We have people that work throughout the area and an active group of retirees. There are life-long Episcopalians among us and people who have been participants in many other denominations before coming to Good Shepherd. We have a place for you no matter where you have chosen to worship before - or if you did not have a church home before coming to us.
We think we are a "thin" place between this world and the spiritual world: a place where the spiritual world often breaks through into our own world. Parishioners who worship at Good Shepherd frequently go on to become ministers. Over the years we have had more than 10 individuals called to the priesthood; three of them have gone on to become bishops.
The bishop who originally gave the money to build Good Shepherd wanted us to serve our community and support the Christian growth of our children. Good Shepherd remains committed to these goals. We are focused on service to others and we welcome those who want to help in that service.
