The Rev. Marjorie S. Bevans
The Rev. Marjorie S. Bevans grew up on a farm in the Piedmont region of Virginia. After a brief career as a jockey and horse trainer, she received her B.A. in Philosophy from The University of Virginia, and while attending law school at George Mason University began to feel God's call into ministry in the church. After working as Director of Religious Education at St. John's, Georgetown, in Washington, D.C., she served as missioner to an Eskimo village on the Arctic Coast, helping to establish the northernmost Episcopal Church in the world, St. Alban's-in-the-Arctic in Point Lay. From there she was sponsored for ordination by the Diocese of Alaska and went to seminary at Nashotah House in Wisconsin, from which she received her M.Div. in 2000.
Marjorie has served parishes in Richmond, Petersburg, and Lawrenceville in Virginia.
