Summer Reading Camp
Each year Good Shepherd offers a free Vacation Bible School (VBS) for elementary and pre-school age children. Some attend our Sunday School, others are related to members and many live in the nearby neighborhood. We meet for one week in late July or early August, Monday through Friday morning, and then share some of the songs we learn with the congregation the following Sunday. Our curriculum is Bible-based and is presented in activity centers staffed by adult volunteers and teen and pre-teen assistants. In recent years we have explored the Great Bible Reef, enjoyed a Rainforest Adventure, and been to Discovery Canyon. Besides songs, games, stories and crafts, this curriculum includes a science activity center – really fun and exciting for the kids.
Inside Out & Upside Down on Main Street is the theme of this year's VBS. Please mark your calendars for this special week of ministry to kids from our church, church friends and relatives, and children from the neighborhood. We are looking for adults and teens to help with the activities, serve as guides and help behind the scenes. If you want to help we will find the right job for you. There is a sign-up sheet outside the office
VBS is funded by the parish and is also supported with donations of materials for decorating and crafts from members. By the end of the week everyone has learned some Bible verses and songs, made new friends and created happy memories.
